What is AUIX?

AUIX is an Australia-wide peering network in which Multi-Lateral Peering Agreements (MLPAs) are used. The NAPs provide peering for all connected ISPs, who can access each others' network traffic for the cost of the tail.

For more information about AUIX and how to join it, see the AUIX Home Page

What is this page for?

This page is to allow AUIX members who are connected to the Sydney NAP (SYD-NAP) to centralise information about available resources and configurations. All SYD-NAP members are encouraged to make their information available to this site.

To get your information added to this site, please email this site maintainer with as much of the following information as possible:

  • Your organisation name and URL
  • Size of link to AUIX SYD-NAP
  • A link to a list of your users' pages
  • Size of proxy cache(s), server spec., whose servers it currently peers with, and email contact for negotiated proxy peering
  • Any mirrors you may carry (and their URLs)
  • Any game servers you wish to share and the contact for negotiating access
  • Other resources you wish to share (e.g. news) plus email contacts to negotiate such

Proxy Resources

Proxies being one of the largest bandwidth-savers, SYD-NAP participants are encouraged to peer their proxy caches with each other. While the inter-nap fabric cannot handle the bandwidth of inter-nap proxy peering, intra-nap peering works very well and can save up to 20% of web-based bandwidth.

Current Proxies Available

The following organisations have proxies, which can be peered on an agreement basis. Peering is on a bilateral basis, i.e. if you want access to someone's cache they get access to yours. Please email the contact listed to organise peering of caches. Make sure that you have the Refresh Patterns set up correctly to prevent ocurrences of the Squid 'Access Denied' Error.
